FAQs About LVT Flooring (Luxury Vinyl Tile)
Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is a type of resilient flooring designed to replicate natural flooring materials like wood, stone, or ceramic. It is made of multiple layers, including a wear layer, a photographic image layer, and a vinyl core layer. The photographic layer on Brampton Chase
flooring is exclusively for our flooring.
LVT is known for its durability. It is resistant to scratches, dents, and stains, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways. It can last for many years with proper care and maintenance. Brampton Chase flooring has all of these qualities and can be used in all areas of the home.
LVT can be installed anywhere inside the home, including bathrooms, kitchens,
bedrooms, dining rooms, lounges, and home offices. However, it's not
recommended for extremely wet areas like showers or pool areas. You should also
avoid using LVT in a conservatory because of the drastic change in temperature
and direct sunlight.
- Affordability: LVT is typically more affordable than hardwood or stone.
- Ease of installation: It’s often easier to install, with options like click-lock systems or glue-down applications.
- Durability: LVT is highly resistant to wear, scratches, and moisture.
- Comfort: LVT is softer and warmer underfoot compared to ceramic tiles.
- It is always recommended to have a professional floor fitter install any LVT flooring – this will ensure that it is done to the best standard with the required subfloor preparation carried out prior to installing the flooring.
- Using our ‘find a showroom’ tool on our website will show you all of your local retailers who will supply and install your
flooring.
In many cases, yes. LVT can often be installed over existing hard surfaces like
tile, wood, or concrete, as long as the surface is clean, dry, and level. Your
flooring installer will be able to advise you on what is needed for the LVT to
be installed over your existing floor.
- LVT does not usually require an underlay. The subfloor should be prepared in a suitable way to make sure the subfloor is level, clean and dry before installation commences but as standard, you will not require underlay.
- There are underlays available to go under LVT flooring if this is required.
Brampton Chase requires simple maintenance – sweeping and mopping with a damp cloth or a mild cleaning solution using a flat head, soft mop. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive scrubbers that could damage the surface. Steam mops are not recommended to use.
Small damages like scratches or dents may be hard to repair. However, individual LVT
tiles can be replaced if they are damaged, depending on how they were installed.
